How to Cook Ribs


There is nothing more delightful and alluring than a thoughtfully cooked ribs recipe accompanied by a tempting barbecue sauce! There are many rib recipes which meat lovers swear upon and why not? They are tasty and scrumptious, to say the least! Ribs of pork, lamb and beef are in popular demand and they are relatively easy to cook. There are many methods of cooking ribs that can be used according to personal convenience. The most popular amongst them are grilling, baking, smoking and slow cooking the ribs.

All these methods of cooking ribs are great, as far as the delectable taste of the ribs are concerned. Once a person gets to know the proper technique of cooking ribs, any of the above mentioned methods becomes piece of cake. Knowing how to cook ribs is extremely handy for various summer parties, barbeque outings and backyard fiestas. There are three important 'T's to look for, which are - temperature, time and tempering (seasoning) of the ribs that you cook!

Barbeque Ribs
There are a few things that one needs to know before learning how to barbeque ribs. First, never leave marinated ribs in room temperature. Make sure you store them in a refrigerator and keep it in a food safe plastic bag and/or any glassware or ceramic container. Avoid using any metal containers, also never use any thick marinades. Lastly, always baste the ribs just a few minutes before you start grilling. Now let's move on to the cooking part.

Ingredients
  • Beef back ribs, 5 lb slab
  • Green onions, 1 bunch
  • Honey, 1 tablespoon
  • Apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon
  • Ginger, tablespoon (ground)
  • Soy sauce, 1/3 cup
Procedure
Cut individual rib pieces of the meat and keep them aside in a glass dish. Prepare marinade by mixing together the soy sauce, ground ginger and apple cider vinegar. Coat the ribs with this marinade, cover them well and place in the refrigerator to get settled. Keep it there overnight and do not forget to turn its sides once. Prepare the grill (any coal or gas grill) and preheat it. Now place the grill rack at least 4 inches away from the coal. Place the ribs on the rack and grill for at least 20 minutes on each side. Mix honey in the remaining marinade and brush it well on all sides of the ribs. Grill each side of the ribs for 10 minutes more and serve by sprinkling the green onion sprigs! Rib Eye Steak
Rib eye steak is the beef steak that is taken from the rib region, that sits just above the prime rib of the beef. It is a boneless cut that remains extremely tender, even after cooking it. The bony rib cut is called rib steak. Amongst the many ways of cooking rib eye steak, grilling is supposedly the best way to cook it. Here is the procedure to know how to cook rib eye steak.

Ingredients
  • Rib eye steaks, 2
  • Butter, 1 ounce
  • Olive oil, 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic powder, teaspoon
  • Black pepper, 1 teaspoon (freshly ground)
  • Balsamic vinegar, 1 tablespoon
  • Salt, to taste
Procedure
Heat up a skillet, put half of the butter and olive oil in it. Sprinkle salt, ground black pepper and garlic powder on it and let it heat up for 2 minutes. Place the rib eye steaks in it and arrange in such a way that the fatty edges of the beef gather in the middle of the pan. Cook for 2 minutes on each side and remove from the pan. Put the cooked rib eye steaks on a warm plate and let them get settled for about 5 minutes. Add quart of water in the same pan and the remaining of the butter, along with the vinegar. Heat it up for a few moments and pour it on top of the cooked rib eye steaks. You can also add some chopped onions and mushrooms in it. They taste great with the rib eye steaks! Rib Roast in an Oven
One of the best recipes for any auspicious occasion, party and festival is the cooked prime rib roast! This delectable and sizzling piece of ribs is made more inviting by making this recipe in the oven and for the crowd. Here is the simple recipe for to learn how to cook rib roast in oven.

Ingredients
  • Rib roast
  • Black pepper (freshly ground)
  • Kosher salt, to taste
Procedure
As the rib roast is in itself a delectable delicacy, it doesn't require much seasoning. All that it needs are some creative cooking skills. Separate the meat from the ribs so that you can have the boneless beef as well as the ribs. After removing meat off the ribs, place it lightly on the rib cradle and tie it with strings. Preheat the oven at about 450 degree Celsius and put the rib roast in the roasting pan (bone side down). Rub ground black pepper and kosher salt on all sides of the roast. Roast the rib roast for half an hour. Now, reduce the heat to around 325 degree Celsius and cook further. There is a simple calculation for cooking rib roast - heat 13 minutes/ pound of the rib roast. So, cook the ribs using this formula and remove the rib roast from the oven. Ribs in a Crock Pot

Ingredients
  • Baby back ribs, 2 slabs
  • Onion, 1 large (thinly sliced)
  • Barbeque sauce
  • Garlic powder, teaspoon
  • black pepper, teaspoon (freshly ground)
  • Kosher salt, to taste
Procedure
One has to broil the ribs first and then cook them in the crock pot. Take the baby back ribs and place them on an aluminum foil or a cookie sheet. Sprinkle all its sides with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Cut the ribs in the size you want to serve them in. Broil the ribs in the oven for about 15 minutes. Till then, prepare the crock pot by using a crock pot lining and prepare a layer of the sliced onions at the bottom of the pot. Place the broiled baby back ribs on top of the onions and drizzle generous amounts of barbeque sauce on it. Cover the crock pot and cook ribs on medium heat for about 8 hours to 10 hours.
