  • Cleaning the grate with a brass brush is the easiest and simplest way to clean the grate. You can also make use of a soft bristled toothbrush to clean the corners or joints of the grill. You can use this method of cleaning every time you use the grill, so that any food particles attached to it can be immediately brushed off.
  • Secondly, the age-old cleaning method by using detergent and water works while cleaning porcelain grill grate also. Put 1-2 teaspoon of detergent in half bucket of warm water and dip the grill grate into it. Let it soak for 30-40 minutes. Then take out, clean with a soft brush and rinse off with cold water.
  • Another method of cleaning porcelain cooking grates involves cleaning the grate with a soapy water. Make soapy water using the above mentioned method, dip a cloth into it and wipe the grill grate clean by wiping with the cloth.
  • The mixture of apple cider vinegar and water is mostly used to clean iron grill grates, but can also be used to clean the porcelain ones. Firstly, you will need to make the apple cider vinegar solution by mixing cup of the cider vinegar with 1 cup of water. Put the mixture in a bottle, spray on the grate and wipe clean with a cloth. You will need to thoroughly rinse the grate after cleaning, as it tends to smell of vinegar.
  • Products like the oven cleaner can also be used to clean porcelain grill grates. You should spray the oven cleaner on the grate, keep for a couple of hours and then rinse off with cold water. You should remember to use rubber gloves when using oven cleaner, as it is unsafe to the skin. It should also be kept away from children and pets.
  • Now, here is a useful tip. After using any soap based product, you should heat the grill to 400 degrees F. This will help in burning off any residue of food or soap. Then, let it cool back to normal temperature and use it.
  • Lastly, using a steam cleaner is also an effective method used to clean porcelain grill grates. Steam cleaner brush and equipment is easily available in the market and should be used according to the instructions. However, the only disadvantage being, this equipment is expensive!
