How to Cook Beef Ribs in the Oven
Preparing beef ribs in the oven is very easy; what you need is a lot of patience and maintaining a low temperature. For making a delicious recipe, select beef ribs with more meat and less fat. Speaking about the quantity, one or two beef ribs are sufficient for one person. Accordingly, estimate the amount of beef ribs that you will need for serving your family members. Ingredients
For cooking beef ribs in oven, you require the following ingredients:
- Beef ribs
- Tomato sauce
- Salt and pepper
- Red chili powder (optional)
- Fresh lemon juice
- Vinegar
- Honey
- Tin foil
- Large pan with lid
Clean the Beef Ribs
The first step is to clean the meat properly. For this, remove the tough membranes covering the bone side by lifting it with a blunt knife from one corner. You can gently peel off the membranes in one go. Following this, rinse and clean the beef ribs under running water. Trim off excess fats (not all) in case you are very conscious about the calorie intake.
Soak the Meat
The next step is to soak the beef ribs in vinegar for 4-6 hours. Transfer the cleaned meat into a container (having a lid) and pour one cup each of vinegar and lemon juice. As per you taste, you can also add orange juice for soaking the beef ribs. This softens the meat and adds flavor to them.
Season the Beef Ribs
After softening the beef ribs, you can prepare the meat by sprinkling salt, pepper and chili powder on both sides. You can also prick the meat with a fork to allow the flavor sink in for better taste. Hand rub the meat to evenly spread the salt and pepper. Then, empty the tomato can and mix the sauce with 6 teaspoons of honey. Spread this sauce mixture on the beef ribs.
Start the Oven
Meanwhile, preheat the oven at a higher degree (about 500 degrees Fahrenheit) for about 10 minutes. If you are preparing beef ribs for the first time and are supposed to take time cleaning the meat, then start the oven after you are done with preparing the meat.
Prepare the Beef Ribs
The next step is to prepare the beef ribs for cooking in the oven. Place a tin foil on a flat surface and transfer the beef ribs into this. Carefully wrap the meat, starting from both sides and making your way up. Place this prepared meat inside the pan and cover the lid.
Cooking the Ribs
Lower the temperature of the oven to approximately 400 degrees Fahrenheit and place the pan with the beef ribs in it. Ensure that the lid is properly placed. Cook at this temperature for about 45 minutes. Then slow cook the beef ribs in the oven for three hours by lowering the temperature further to about 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Slow cooking the meat enables the maximum amount of fat to melt away.
After slow cooking beef ribs in the oven for three hours, remove the pan from the oven and place it over a stove. Allow the meat to settle in the stove for about 30 minutes. Open the pan and transfer the cooked beef ribs on a platter. Garnish the beef ribs and serve with side dishes.
