Crockpot Pulled Pork Recipe

My family and I are huge fans of barbecues and tacos. And I'm pretty sure, majority of people, just like me, love to find excuses for having a barbeque night. Whether it's super bowl parties, birthdays, or just plain pork nights, the crock pot pulled pork recipe will definitely make your mouth water.

BBQ Pork Sandwiches

A variation to your favorite sandwiches with barbecue sauce and moist pulled pork.

Ingredients
  • Pork shoulder roast, 4 lbs
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 2 red onions, julienne
  • 3 tablespoons spice seasoning (your choice of brand)
  • Barbecue sauce
  • 2 cups water
Stuff cloves in the roast and rub with the spice seasoning blend. Place the roast in crock pot and top it with onions. Pour water till the roast is completely covered and slow cook for 8-10 hours. Remove the cloves from the pork, layer of fat, excess water, and grease from the pot. After the roast has cool down, shred and pull the meat with a fork or your hands. Place the meat in the crock pot and add barbecue sauce to it. Heat it for 1-2 hours. Serve it hot with your choice of rolls.

Home-style Pulled Pork

Home-style cooking pleases everyone's heart and stomach. There are many crock pot recipes with home-cooked feel to it. Try this recipe for that old-fashioned taste.

Ingredients
  • 3 lbs Pork shoulder, without fat
  • 1 medium onion
  • cup brown sugar
  • cup ketchup
  • teaspoon liquid smoke
  • cup Worcestershire
  • cup apple cider vinegar
  • teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • Red chili pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Mix all the ingredients in the crock pot, except for onions and pork, and whisk them till it blends well. Combine the pork and onions in the pot. Slow cook the mixture for 8-10 hours on low heat. After the meat is done, remove it and let it cool down. Shred and pull the meat apart with the help of a fork. Reheat the meat into the warm sauce and serve hot on hamburger buns.

Savory Tacos

The crock pot tacos are my family's favorite. You can also give this recipe a twist of your own with chicken and beef as well.

Ingredients
  • 1 picnic cut bone-in pork shoulder, 10 lbs
  • 1 medium onion, julienne
  • 20 corn tortillas
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 cup orange marmalade
  • Cabbage slaw, recipe below
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Cabbage Slaw
  • 1 red cabbage, shredded
  • 4 medium carrots, grated
  • cup cider vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Mix cabbage, carrots, vinegar, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Wrap it in a damp towel and keep it in refrigerator for 1-2 hours. This will be the topping for the tacos.

Tacos

Take a crock pot and put onions in the bottom, then the pork shoulder with fat and skin side up, and add soy sauce, orange marmalade, garlic, salt and pepper. Let it cook over a low heat for 8-10 hours. Once the meat is cooked, remove from the pot and let it cool down. Shred and pull the meat apart with the help of a fork or your hands, and arrange the meat over a platter. Leave some meat on the bone. This will keep it warm and juicy, and pull it at the table. Warm the tortillas in a microwave oven. Arrange the pork and tortillas on the table with some cabbage slaw topping.
