Aioli Sauce


So, what exactly is Aioli sauce? Well, it is a part of French cuisine which is made by combining mashed garlic and olive oil. Lemon juice and eggs are some more ingredients that are used in the preparation of this sauce. The combination of all these ingredients results into a thick yummy sauce that can be served with innumerable dishes. The texture of Aioli sauce is very similar to mayonnaise, which we use for myriad recipes. In many European countries, traditional Aioli sauce is served with a variety of seafood.

The traditional style of preparing Aioli sauce includes mashing the garlic cloves in a mortar with gradual addition of olive oil. However, sometimes a mixture of egg yolk, mustard and garlic is prepared first, and then the olive oil is gradually added to the mixture. Thus, there are several ways to prepare Aioli sauce, and some easy recipes have been provided below.

Basic Garlic Aioli Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • Garlic cloves (minced) - 4
  • Egg yolks - 2
  • Extra virgin olive oil - 1 cup
  • Lemon juice - 2 teaspoons
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste
Procedure

Take a medium-sized bowl and beat eggs in it with the help of a wire whisk. Then add minced garlic cloves to the beaten eggs and keep adding extra virgin olive oil in a gradual manner. Constantly beat the egg mixture while adding the olive oil to attain a light and creamy texture. Season the sauce with pepper and salt according to your requirements, and in the end stir in the lemon juice. Refrigerate the sauce and use when required.

Honey Aioli Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • Egg - 1
  • Extra virgin olive oil (divided) - 1 cup
  • Garlic clove - 1
  • Fresh lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
  • Honey - 1 teaspoon
  • Stevia extract - packet
  • Salt to taste
Procedure

If you do not like spicy sauce, then you can prepare this type of sweet sauce that uses honey. First, peel the garlic clove and mash it properly. Then take a small bowl and combine olive oil (2 tablespoons), lemon juice, mashed garlic paste and eggs. Using an electric hand mixer, blend all these ingredients at a high speed. Then slow down the speed of mixer and add the remaining olive oil. Blend the ingredients to make the mixture creamy and fluffy. In the end add in honey, stevia extract and salt. Combine all the ingredients and your sweet Aioli sauce is ready to use.

Mayonnaise Aioli Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • Mayonnaise - cup
  • Crushed garlic cloves - 2
  • Dijon mustard - 2 teaspoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
  • Lime juice - 1 teaspoon
  • Extra virgin olive oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Procedure

Take a mixing bowl and add mayonnaise, crushed garlic cloves, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, lime juice and extra virgin olive oil. With help of an electric hand mixer, combine all the ingredients properly and add salt and pepper according to the taste required. Then, place the bowl in the refrigerator for about 10 to 15 minutes and serve the yummy sauce with food of your choice.

Saffron Aioli Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • Egg yolk - 1
  • Extra virgin olive oil - cup
  • Canola oil - cup
  • Lemon juice made from lemon
  • Garlic cloves (minced) - 2
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Saffron heads - 1 pinch
Procedure

Take a bowl and add egg yolks and a pinch of saffron heads to it. With the help of an electric hand mixer, beat the egg at a high speed. Then lower the speed of blender and drizzle olive oil and then canola oil to it. Once you see the emulsification of the liquid, you can add the oil at a faster rate. Then add the remaining ingredients and blend them properly. Your Aioli sauce is ready to serve with your favorite sea food.
