How to Deep-Fry Chicken Wings

Making deep-fried chicken wings is child's play and does not require much effort. Given below are some directions for cooking chicken wings;
  • Clean the chicken wings in cold water. Remember to remove the wing tips before marinating the wings in the batter. Keep the cleaned chicken wings aside.
  • For the coating, mix one package of breading with water (or according to the instructions given on the package). In another bowl, mix the flour will your favorite seasonings.
  • Coat the chicken wings with flour and dip them into the breading mix. Apply another coat of flour on the chicken pieces and keep them in a basket. The double coat of flour on the chicken wings will ensure a crunchy texture.

Deep-Fried Chicken Wings Recipe

Ingredients
  • Chicken wings (approximately 3 pounds), 15
  • Oil for deep-frying, 1 cup
  • Eggs, 2
  • All-purpose flour, cup
  • Green onions, finely chopped, 2
  • Soy sauce, 5 teaspoons
  • Sesame seeds, 2 teaspoons
  • Cornstarch, cup
  • Canola oil, cup
  • Sugar, cup
  • Salt, 1 teaspoons
Preparation

Cut the chicken wings after clipping the wing tip section. Take a large bowl and mix the all-purpose flour, sesame seeds, cornstarch, sugar and salt and combine them properly. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl and add soy sauce and canola oil. Pour this egg mixture into the flour and whisk the mixture till all the ingredients blend well together. Transfer the chicken wings to the batter and coat them till the wings are completely covered with the batter. Cover the bowl and marinate the chicken wings for 3 hours in a refrigerator. Heat oil in a deep skillet and fry the wings for about 6 to 7 minutes by turning them occasionally till the sides become crispy brown. Place these chicken wings on a plate with paper towels till the excess oil drains out. Transfer these chicken wings to a serving plate and garnish with finely chopped green onions.

Buffalo Deep-Fried Chicken Wings with Blue Cheese Dressing

Ingredients for the Wings
  • Chicken wings, 2 pounds
  • Hot sauce, 1 tablespoon
  • Canola oil, 2 cups
  • Freshly ground pepper, 1 teaspoon
  • White wine vinegar, 2 teaspoons
  • Butter, 2 tablespoons
  • Salt, 1 teaspoon
Ingredients for Blue Cheese Dressing
  • Mayonnaise, 1 cup
  • Blue cheese, crumbled, cup
  • Finely chopped onion, 2 tablespoons
  • White wine vinegar, 1 tablespoon
  • Pepper, 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, cup
  • Finely chopped garlic, 1 tablespoon
  • Sour cream, cup
  • Fresh lemon juice, 1 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste
Preparation

Deep-fry the chicken wings in canola oil for about 15 minutes till they become golden brown. Remove them from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat and add the vinegar and hot sauce and stir. Now place the chicken wings in the sauce pan and cover them with the sauce. Bake these wings in sauce for about 15 minutes. For the blue cheese dressing, mix all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk them till they combine properly. You can also refrigerate this dressing if you wish. Transfer the chicken wings to a platter with celery and top it with the dressing.

Cajun Deep-Fried Chicken Wings

Ingredients
  • Chicken wings, 12
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice, 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic cloves, finely chopped, 4
  • Brandy, 2 tablespoons
  • Bay leaves, crumbled, 5
  • Paprika, 2 teaspoons
  • Cayenne pepper, teaspoon
  • Dry mustard, 1 teaspoons
  • Dried thyme leaves, teaspoon
  • Caraway seeds, teaspoon
  • Ground cumin, teaspoon
  • Ground coriander, teaspoon
  • Salt, teaspoon
Preparation

Cook the chicken wings in boiling water for about 10 minutes to remove the excess fat. Drain the water and place them on a plate to cool them. Grind the bay leaves, garlic, coriander, cayenne pepper, mustard, caraway seeds, cumin, thyme, salt and paprika. Mix the brandy and lemon juice to the ground spices and make them into a thick paste. Coat the cooked chicken wings with this herb paste. Fry them in hot oil in a deep skillet till they turn brown. Remove them from the skillet and drain them on paper towels. You can serve these with Cajun sauce.

Australian Deep-Fried Chicken Wings

Ingredients
  • Chicken wings, 8 to 10
  • All-purpose flour, cup
  • Corn flour, cup
  • Soy sauce, 4 tablespoons
  • Sweet sherry, 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil, 1 quart
  • Freshly ground black pepper, 2 teaspoons
  • Oyster sauce, 2 tablespoons
  • Salt to taste
Preparation

Clean the chicken wings and keep them in a bowl. Drain the water and set the bowl aside, till you prepare the marinade. Take a small-sized bowl and mix together the soy sauce, sweet sherry, oyster sauce, pepper and salt to taste. Pour this mixture over the chicken and mix till the wings are coated well. Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for about one day to marinate the chicken. In a separate bowl, prepare a mixture of all-purpose and cornflour. Remove the chicken from the marinade and dust it in the flour mixture, till it is evenly coated. Heat the oil in a deep skillet and fry the wings till they turn crisp and golden brown. Serve them hot with a dipping of your choice.
